Upcoming Volunteer Events

2023 NAMIWalks
  • Earn a volunteering point by helping NAMI Dane County set up for the NAMIWalks event! Come to Olin-Turville Park from 8am until 9am to earn your point! If you're planning on participating, follow this link to register for the walk and send us an email at nami.wisco@gmail.com with your name and preferred t-shirt size.

    If you'd like to earn a social point, walk with us at NAMIWalks! The walk will begin at 10:30am and go until 2:30pm. Participants are not required to stay the entire duration of the event.

UHS Training for Suicide Prevention
  • University Health Service’s Suicide Prevention training for UW-Madison Students prepares students to support their peers’ mental health and intervene to prevent suicide. 
  • Suicide Prevention Training for UW-Madison Students is a 90-minute, interactive Canvas course that aims to:
    • ​Improve students’ ability to recognize warning signs of suicide  
    • Boost students’ capacity to respond to peers in distress  
    • Increase confidence in referring peers to campus resources  
  • Earn 1 Volunteer point by completing the multi-part training program  (4 parts total)!
  • Once students finish the end-of-training survey, a pop-up will appear that says 'You have completed Suicide Prevention Training for UW-Madison Students.' Please screenshot this pop-up and email it to nami.wisco@gmail.com to receive your point.

Volunteer Events Held:
  • ​ NAMI-UW x PSY CHI COLLAB. NAMI-UW and Psi Chi members expressed their creative side by creating posters to be hung up around campus in order to spread more awareness about mental health and mental illness on UW-Madison's campus!
  • NAMI-UW x CAMPUS CURSIVE COLLAB. NAMI-UW and Campus Cursive members came together to support The World Needs More Love Letters to write to those nominated by family and friends as people in need of some love!
  • Cards for Patients in Psychiatric Units ( For Like Minds). On September 28, 2022 some of our members volunteered to write cards for patients in a psychiatric ward to show them that they care and to send them some inspiration!
  • American Red Cross Blood Drive 2022
    • On Thursday, December 8th, 2022 from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. at Union South!
    • Donation goal: 30 people
  • American Red Cross Blood Drive 2023
    • On Thursday, March 24th, 2023 from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. at Union South!
    • Donation goal: 24 people
